Opening is entirely one long take, filmed on a handheld camera.
Soundtrack is lively and chaotic (echoing the busy street environment), it is in a major key, to emphasises the comedic/ positive mood also expressed in the bright lighting. Diegetic background sounds of peoples voices and cars runs along side the soundtrack.
Film starts as a medium shot looking up at woman at a shop checkout. The camera moves to form a two shot, the woman is handed a 1 pound coin as change from the cashier. Woman walks towards camera until shot becomes a close- up of her hand with the coin in.
The soundtrack is upbeat and in a major key, the upbeat mood this creates sa signifier of the comedy genre.
Camera will now follow the coin entirely for the rest of the shot. Woman drops coin in a charity bucket and camera backs out a little. Thief runs part and grabs bucket, but trips and coin flies out. Child picks up the coin (camera at close up of child's hand), and music stops, and shot contuse in silence.
Shot ends as coin rolls onto road, music starts again, as coin rolls down drain.
Difficulties;
- Filming a opening entirely in one long take is extremely difficult, as actors must be perfectly timed as they appear in and out of shot.
- Lots of extras needed.
- Set is readily available as any supermarket and town street can be used.
